Sunday strolls through the Belgrade fortress (Built in 279 BC! 👀). This fortress has been attacked and rebuilt several times during the past centuries (including being damaged during WW1 and 2). Basically, there’s a ton of history behind this picturesque construction. What (or where) is the most impressive fortress you’ve seen? 🏰
The extended summer has come and gone and coat season is back in Belgrade!🧥🍂. How’s the weather where you’re at?
We ventured just outside of our area and into Zemun, a separate town that Belgrade absorbed over 80 years ago. From here, we were able to not only see the municipality of Zemun, but also the Danube River (to the left; second longest river in European 😳) and an awesome Belgrade backdrop. 🏞🌆
Sunset where the Danube and Sava rivers meet 🧡
📸 Belgrade, Serbia
📝Have you ever visited a place expecting not to love it and... it ends up exceeding your expectations? That’s exactly what’s happened with us and Belgrade.
…
We didn’t think we were going to hate it, but we were expecting something else. After 20 days here though — wow! — are we happy to have chosen the Serbian capital to spend a couple of months in. We love the 24/7 aliveness the city has, how verdant it is, with gorgeous parks every couple of blocks, and delicious gastronomy that’s basically Robert’s dream come true (🥩🍗🍖🥓🌭🍔...🙋🏻‍♂️). The riverside restaurants and bars that are open during the summer don’t hurt either. ☺️

The place in the picture is our favorite spot in the city. It overlooks the Sava River and is in that area of riverside summer restaurants and bars. We’re going to take advantage of the last few days it’s open and spend our mornings working and relaxing here while the sun is shining. ☀️

💭 We’re loving Serbia so far and the never-ending meat/chicken they serve here… but we really want to go back to Turkey and all these A1 beaches 👌🏽
📝 This is just one of the countless beaches we drove by on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey… [📸: Samyang 21mm f/1.4]
🚗 Day 8: Turkey Road Trip
📸 Myra
📝 The 8th and last day of our road trip was a drive from Kas to Antalya. On our way, besides finding another 10,000 spectacular/hidden beaches, we stopped to check out Myra, an ancient Greek town where Demre is currently located. In this picture, you’re looking at stone tombs that date back to the 4th-5th century BC. It‘s incredible to be driving around modern cities and towns... and then just stop off the side of a road to check our remains that are over 2,000 years old. It really gives you a different perspective on everything. 👀
…
This road trip is all we needed to put Turkey up as our favorite country so far, aka da top of the list. The new mixed with the old, the scents and tastes, the overwhelming kindness and generosity... The current economic situation in the country is not the best for locals right now, but they still receive incoming people with a smile on their faces, eager to share their culture with you. 🤗
…
Cancelling our Capadoccia visit to take our Turkish roadtrip turned out not to be a bad idea after all. And as soon as we get the chance, we’ll go back to continue making new friends and discovering epic places. ❤️
🚗 Day 7: Turkey Road Trip
📸 Kaş & Surroundings
📝 One of our favorite things to do while near the Turkish coast was to drive around to find spectacular beaches like this one (...and we say "find" because most of them weren't even named on Google Maps). Swipe to see a snap of our favorite beach! 🙃 [📸: Samyang 12mm f/2]
🚗 Day 6: Turkey Road Trip
📸 Kaş
📝 Kaş was our home for 3 days during our Turkish road trip. Kaş is a small, walkable seaside town in the south of Turkey with beautiful and colorful streets, an ancient Greek amphitheater (still used today!), and SO many places to just park your car and take a dip in the unbelievably blue waters that surround the region. And, of course, delicious food practically anywhere you go.
…
After our disappointment with Ölüdeniz, we were a bit worried that Kaş might be a let-down too. Fortunately though, this place has been able to conserve its magic despite its increasing popularity. …
If you’re driving, you probably already noticed the occasionally crappy parking situation. A friend of a friend (of a friend) told me a story about hitting a metallic garbage container in Kaş last week while backing up into one of these crappy parking spots. 🙈🤫
...
By the way, here’s something that’s true: Kaş has the best “trileçe” (a Turkish dessert) of all time… automatically making this place a "must" visit 🤪
